Day THREE 3 May 2015
Roncevalles to Espinal started @6.30am walked till 9.00am~6.8 kilometres

Today I only walked about 6.8 kilometres, after the heavy ascent of yesterday’s effort, I wanted to give my calf muscles and hip joints a break. The first part was through the beautiful “Oakwood of the witches”. I heard them cackling, saw their eyes in the deep dark the forest, and felt watched all the time! HI walked only just over six kilometres to the small village of Espinal. Here I had morning coffee and some more freshly squeezed orange juice, looked and found a gorgeous casa rual. I enjoyed myself, first a very hot shower, then play time in my diary and some re shuffling of the back pack. Now I have to fit in the latest addition, the light weight sleeping bag which by the way is over two kilos! Nothing light weight about it! At about three o’clock I walked and found the beginning of the trail for tomorrow, and set back to the small country size bar. A lovely 80 euro cent glass of red, a baguette with cheese and jamon, and Bob was my uncle. Slowly the cafe filled up, and the soft Basque language surrounded me quickly. I wrote some e mail, posted day one and two in Facebook, and went back to enjoy an afternoon nap in my very comfortable bed. The casa rual, is large and filled with dried flowers, copper pots and revolting paintings. There are another two couples staying although I have not seen them as yet. Today my body is sore especially my hip joints and my calf muscles, lots of stretching and deep heat were required and a solid nap did me a lot of good. Tomorrow I need to walk through this, I am full aware of this need, although not looking forward to it. Received an e mail from Lucia, she will be arriving in Leon on the 25th of May, to start the Camino in Leon. I am so looking forward to meeting up with a dear friend again, and catch up on all the latest news from Oz!
